Blogs and Ends

Donald Trump Jr's Russian...*snore...snort!*  Whu?  Oh yeah, new Russian thingy.  It seems that... No one can care about this.

Oh of course reporters are caring greatly about this new bright and shining nothingburger but they lost all of their credibility last week.  #Fakenews is the word.

The reputation they have now is not one that you can fall back on.

2017 is the New 1984

Yeah, you knew that one already but Big Brother's boot stamping on your face at least had the human touch.

As reported by ABC News, New Mexico man Eduardo Barros was house-sitting at a home in Tijeras with his girlfriend and her daughter this past Sunday.

Barros then got into a fight with his girlfriend, and things grew violent. At some point, he allegedly threatened her with a gun, saying: “Did you call the sheriffs?” However, the home that the couple was occupying had an active smart home device running inside.

The Google Home misinterpreted Barros’ threat as a voice command, and called 911. When the police heard the altercation over the phone, they immediately rushed over with a SWAT team. After a long standoff, the police were able to capture Barros.

Google hears all, knows all and records all. Just keep that one in mind when you see what a great deal Google Wifi is.

Legendary climate nanny Michael Mann is involved in another lawsuit that I hadn't heard about.  I knew about the libel case against Mark Stein but I did not know about the one in Canada.  Where he is the defendant and has just refused to turn over his climate data to the court for open examination.

Penn State climate scientist, Michael ‘hockey stick’ Mann commits contempt of court in the ‘climate science trial of the century.’ Prominent alarmist shockingly defies judge and refuses to surrender data for open court examination. Only possible outcome: Mann’s humiliation, defeat and likely criminal investigation in the U.S.

The defendant in the libel trial, the 79-year-old Canadian climatologist, Dr Tim Ball (above, right) is expected to instruct his British Columbia attorneys to trigger mandatory punitive court sanctions, including a ruling that Mann did act with criminal intent when using public funds to commit climate data fraud. Mann’s imminent defeat is set to send shock waves worldwide within the climate science community as the outcome will be both a legal and scientific vindication of U.S. President Donald Trump’s claims that climate scare stories are a “hoax.”

As can be seen from the graphs below; Mann’s cherry-picked version of science makes the Medieval Warm Period (MWP) disappear and shows a pronounced upward ‘tick’ in the late 20th century (the blade of his ‘hockey stick’). But below that, Ball’s graph, using more reliable and widely available public data, shows a much warmer MWP, with temperatures hotter than today, and showing current temperatures well within natural variation.

I think it's safe to say that if Mann is conclusively proven to be a fraud he will immediately be swept under the carpet and completely forgotten about in less than a day.  The Memory Hole is always hungry.

Overwatch's new "hero" Doomfist finally dropped on the PTR.  He may be there for a little bit as he is kind of buggy as yet but that is what the PTR is for.  Doomfist actually is new unlike Orissa who was just a conglomeration of already released heroes.   Probably the most mobile hero in the game.

His intro story however, was cheaply made.

Blizzard seems to be done with spending money on the promotional side of the game, which is understandable as it's playership isn't going to grow much more than it already has.  The real money is in Loot Boxes and merchandising.   No point in expending funds on expensive computer animation.

Which is a pity.  They had done some pretty good stuff.

I honestly think the Last Bastion could have won an Oscar for Best Short if it had had a theatrical release.

I'm done.

Have yourself a day.
